Until early June 2026, the Net Zero Energy Project contractor, Vital Energi, will be working on the replacement of the existing boilers with a district heating pipework connection from the Bowland Main plant room into the Welcome Centre rooftop plant room.

• Three accessible parking spaces will be out of use on Bowland Avenue for a Vital Energi compound.
• Scaffolding will be erected outside Bowland Main. Access to the Bike Workshop and the pedestrian route through to Bowland Main quad will remain open.
• The cycle parking outside Bowland Main will be out of use. Alternative cycle parking is located outside Bowland College and on Bowland Avenue.
• Bin stores will remain open.
• There will be no heating in the Welcome Centre from Monday 23 to Friday 27 March to allow the connection of the district heating pipework in the rooftop plant room. Building temperatures will be monitored during this period and hot water will not be affected.

On Tuesday 5 May, the Net Zero Energy Project contractor, Vital Energi, will be carrying out system commissioning in the plant room at Lytham House 68, Fylde, following the completion of the building connection works.

From Monday 30 March to June 2026, the Net Zero Energy Project contractor, Vital Energi, will be installing new pipework support foundations and bracketry on the north side of Energy Centre One to enable new district heating connections into the building.

• Excavations will be carried out using a mini digger for the installation of the support foundations, causing some noise and disruption.
• There will be localised noise during the bracketry installation and whilst a concrete delivery takes place.

A one-way system is in place northbound along South Drive from the LENS building up to George Fox Avenue to enable the contractor to construct the new energy centre. This one-way system will be in place until the project completes in Spring 2027.

A new entrance has been created from George Fox Avenue into George Fox car park and a contractor's compound has been created on the east side of the main car park. The west side of George Fox car park will remain in use for staff parking using the new entrance/exit from George Fox Avenue.

Until mid-May 2026, the Net Zero Energy Project contractor, Vital Energi, will be working on the external district heating pipework installation works at Graduate College accommodation. From Friday 6 March until mid-May 2026, the contractor will then be working on the connection of the external pipework into plant rooms on the top floor of House 16 Loweswater and House 19 Stickle.
